Job Description:

Will be responsible for assembly, installation, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of electrical, instrumentation and automated systems. Job duties include but are not limited to: troubleshoot process issues using electrical and PLC knowledge. Read electrical schematics and P&ID's to aid in troubleshooting, equipment improvements and minimizing downtime. Upgrade machine controls and safeties following NEC and State codes. Uses knowledge of instrumentation to aid in troubleshooting and repair of transducers, thermocouples, flow meters and pressure switches. All procedures and practices used are grounded in standards, regulations and laws addressing occupational safety (OSHA), building and electrical codes, and food safety and food quality (FDA) in addition to environmental safety (EPA) in accordance with Safe Quality Food (SQF) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinate electrical safety training to maintenance personnel to include arc flash and LOTO verification.
  • Provide electrical and PLC troubleshooting assistance to Maintenance department as needed.
  • Monitors and maintains current PLC programs on server and laptops.
  • Establish Basic electrical and PLC training for designated Maintenance personnel.
  • Initiates projects to upgrade obsolete VFD's and servo drives. Develop projects to implement Ethernet IP where needed.
  • Provide related technical guidance and expertise; assisting and coaching Maintenance, Operations and QA associates on an ongoing basis.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours and weekends as dictated by project scheduling-must be available for off hour's remote assistance to plant personnel on occasion.
  • Work with internal and external resources on installation and debugging of electrical equipment and PLC's.
  • Assist with continuous improvement projects to include electrical safety improvements, cost savings initiatives, focused improvement work streams and autonomous maintenance activities.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
  • Coordinate annual thermal scans & circuit breaker testing.
  • Prepare and maintain all specific documentation related to job activities.
  • Follows and enforces standards for food safety and food quality production reflected in GMP, 5S, SQF as well as the regulations of governmental agencies such as OSHA, FDA and EPA.
  • Effectively communicate with coworkers and outside contractors. Be discreet in the use of company confidential information.
  • Must adhere to all safety, food safety and quality rules and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform in a variety of physical conditions including cramped spaces, and in varied temperatures, some with extreme temperatures and high humidity (>100 degrees F.) must be able to perform detailed work; stoop, bend, twist, squat, stand and sit for various periods at a time with or without reasonable accommodations. May work in enclosed areas and in noisy environment. Must perform moderate to heavy lifting (30 to 50lbs).

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION:

Associates Degree in Electrical Technology preferred or an equivalent 5-10 years of experience

Experience with Allen Bradley PLC's including DeviceNet, Controlnet, Ethernet IP, RSLOGIX, SLC 500, Studio 5000, and SERCOS

Experience with 240 V and 480V electrical systems
