We are looking for a Professional willing to join our Automation Department of Tenova Inc., with a motivation to work within an international and challenging environment. The Automation Department of Tenova Inc. supports the metals industry with a broad scope of services including process control and automation systems.

Activities will include electrical/instrumentation design/specification as well as process control software development. A key component of the work will be to apply advanced process control methods to industrial systems. This position will be involved in the full project life-cycle: sales support, design, implementation and commissioning.

Youwill carry on the following activities:
  • Software design for PLCs and HMIs for controlling high tech industrial equipment
  • Develop functional design specification for control system based upon the as-sold contract technical specification.
  • Develop and execute an efficient software program based on the functional description
  • Interact with client and third party suppliers, as well as other internal departments.
  • Prepare equipment purchase specifications for all computer hardware and software required for the control system.
  • Develop, customize and test the control system software prior to delivery to customer
  • Install and implement the control system at customer site.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and is proficient with Electrical and Controls troubleshooting techniques and tools.
  • Assist the project manager with technical expertise that may be required throughout the project.
  • Coordinate with other engineers, designers and departments to ensure integrated design.
  • Travel up to 20%:


Required profile:
  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience
  • An understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic and motor controls
  • Programming experience:
    • PLCs: Siemens S7, Rockwell ControlLogix, GE
    • HMIs:Wonderware, Interacty X, RSView, WinCC
  • Must be able to interact and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels within and outside of the organization.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Proven analytical, evaluative and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated time management skills necessary to simultaneously manage multiple projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.


Preferred Skills or Experience:
  • Experience in SAP
  • Experience working for an engineering company
  • Work experience involving material handling applications, combustion applications and advanced process control techniques is desirable.
  • Experience directly related to the steel industry is a plus.
  • This position will work mainly with our division in Connecticut but may also work with our main office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.


Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
