The Associate Vice President for Finance and CFO (AVP) is the University’s principal hands-on financial, business, and accounting executive, and plays a critical role in maintaining the University’s overall financial strength. The position reports directly to the Vice President for Administration and Finance, and is a member of the President’s cabinet. Positions that report directly to the AVP include the University Controller; Assistant Vice President of Budget, Analysis and Reporting (secondary report; primary report is to Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost); Director of Management Advisory Services; Finance Coordinator; Special Assistant to the AVP; and Director of Business Services for the Division of Administration and Finance. The AVP has close working relationships with University leaders, as well as finance officials with decentralized reporting lines throughout the University. The AVP is also responsible for the University’s financial systems, internal and external financial reporting, and compliance and audit management.
The AVP is a thought leader and maintains open communication with a wide range of stakeholders to create client-centered environments that lend to operational effectiveness. The AVP works in close collaboration with the President, Provost and their senior staffs to ensure financial alignment between university priorities and available resources. The AVP also collaborates with other senior administrators and University leaders to plan and execute major projects, including process and system improvements, capital enhancements, and real estate ventures.
Minimum Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study
• 15 years experience or greater
• Substantial record of strategic financial leadership within a large, complex research university or similarly complex organization.
