Reporting to the Vice Chancellor of Medical Advancement, the Associate Vice Chancellor oversees the entire major gifts program to ensure coordination, collaboration, effective metrics, accountability and best practices for major gifts fundraising for the School of Medicine and Siteman Cancer Center. In partnership with the Vice Chancellor, this position will be a key leader in implementing the grateful patient fundraising program, working across all units in Medical and University Advancement in a matrixed way to ensure the appropriate partners are included in planning and implementation of the program. This position coordinates the operational activities of staff in the areas of major gifts, grateful patient and corporate and foundation fundraising. The Associate Vice Chancellor will also carry a portfolio of prospects. This position is one of three that report directly to the Vice Chancellor and is a key member of the senior leadership team for Medical Advancement.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assume significant day to day oversight and management responsibilities for clinical and research fundraising programs, linking and synchronizing all major gifts fundraising throughout the team, including Siteman Cancer Center and School of Medicine Alumni fundraising.
- Manage an appropriate personal case load of prospects and donors in terms of cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
- Key member of a team that will conceive, coordinate and drive the implementation of a sophisticated grateful patient engagement program for Medical Advancement.
- Provide primary oversight and guidance related to retention, recruitment and onboarding of all major gift officers throughout Medical Advancement.
- Lead and oversee Corporate and Foundation fundraising team for Medical Advancement.
- Lead regular major gifts meetings with the goal of coordinating significant solicitation activity and ensuring Medical Advancement pipeline is healthy and growing.
- Support staff to ensure best practices in all individual, major and principal gift proposals development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experienced fundraising professional with a demonstrated track record as a fundraiser, manager and strategist in major and principal gifts fundraising.
- Ten years in a progressively responsible management position, in a higher education fundraising or similar environment with experience in grateful patient fundraising protocols and procedures.
- Ability to operate effectively with flexibility and collegiality in a fast-paced, demanding and complex organizational environment.
- Superior interpersonal skills, working comfortably and effectively with administration, faculty, professional and administrative staff, as well as volunteers.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

- Demonstrated skill in developing sophisticated strategies for planning, implementing and administering complex gift situations in an academic enterprise.
- Major campaign experience.
Base pay commensurate with experience.
