Position Description

The Software Engineer is a critical member of this team, playing a key role in supporting new initiatives and enhancing existing systems. We’re seeking a candidate with an agile and adaptable mindset, self-motivated entrepreneurial spirit, capacity to give and receive constructive criticism, and a passion for learning.


The current opening is based in Washington, D.C.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participate in requirements, design, estimation and test approach discussions
  • Take ownership of components on full-stack web applications to support the growing needs of the business
  • Identify new technologies that improve product development and end user experience
  • Update and improve existing web applications
  • Collaborate with the development team and business partners throughout the development life-cycle
  • Work with the QA team to create test cases which fully exercise data validation and system functionality
  • Write and execute SQL queries to validate actual test results match expected results

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or other business-related field
  • Experience coding in at least one object oriented programming language (C# or Java)
  • Knowledge of user interface technologies including HTML5, CSS3 and Bootstrap
  • Experience working with REST API systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB, CouchDB or DynamoDB
  • AWS familiarity (Cloud Formation, Code Pipeline, ECS, etc.)
  • Experience in a high-tech software development environment producing commercial web based software products
  • Proficient understanding and utilization of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks such as AngularJS / React
  • Knowledge of database concepts (e.g., tables, columns, records)
  • Ability to write SQL queries to retrieve specific data sets
  • Knowledge of health care data
