We are currently looking to fill the following position in our Hartford, CT office:

Associate Legal Counsel

The Associate Legal Counsel’s main responsibilities will include drafting, reviewing and modifying contracts with vendors, partners and customers, along with providing general legal advice to members of our team and assisting with corporate compliance. The candidate in this role will work closely with members of the Insurity executive team and the general counsel of our parent company to mitigate risks and provide guidance with regards to all contracts and various legal matters. To be successful in this role, the candidate will need to have a high level of attention to detail.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work directly with clients, vendors, partners and others to manage and negotiate agreements
  • Collaborate with executive team members and the general counsel to provide advice and professional guidance on risks and suitability of contracts toward the attainment of company goals
  • Verify all documents and contracts to ensure they meet high levels of quality and accuracy
  • Support the development of internal policies and guidelines for contract management
  • Assist corporate general counsel as needed

What you’ll need:

  • 5 years of experience drafting and negotiating contracts with a strong emphasis on software licensing, technical services, IT and SaaS contracts
  • Hold a Law degree, active Bar licensure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven sound judgement and business sense
  • Familiarity with data privacy laws in UK, Europe, US and Canada (an asset)
  • Must be highly proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Must have a sense of urgency and ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of attention to details
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to prioritize
  • Knowledge of the property and casualty insurance industry, an asset
