Data Engineering Functions:

  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources.
  • Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
  • Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.


  • Root cause analysis, documenting process

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to Design, Evaluate, and test data infrastructure
  • Knowledge/background in software design and principles; agile methodology and continuous integration and delivery.
  • Develop/Build IT solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Knowledgeable of install and configure solutions.
  • Translates business and technical requirements in to test cases, test scenarios, and scripts.
  • Ability to develop and/or implement components.
  • Performs script maintenance and updates due to changes in requirements or implementations.
  • Adheres to standards and procedures.
  • Knowledgeable of IT systems; identify errors or deficiencies and develop solutions.


  • Create clear and concise written documentation for a variety of audiences, including developers, business analysts and business users. Use a blend of written communication techniques, including detailed documentation, diagramming and slide presentations.
  • Take initiative to initiate communication among teams, including remote team members. Initiate and deliver presentations to internal groups on domain topics.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead by example on all fronts. Guide development teams in a manner that creates success and allows for future self-sufficiency.
  • Foster innovation and promote teamwork.

  • This is an entry level position into the Data Engineering discipline, works under close supervision, supports the team with processes and projects developing a stronger working knowledge of subject matter. Supports the strategic design and implementation of data pipelines and support for analytics.

Additional Technical Competencies:

  • Gather business and functional requirements.
  • Perform root cause analysis in complex environments.
  • SQL and related query tools.
  • Experience with at least one programming language.

Minimum Qualifications:

Entry level and education equal to a degree is required or experience in any combination listed below:

  • A corporate data analytics environment.
  • Data analytics platforms and tools.
  • Large database systems such as SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL is highly desirable.
  • Real-time analytics and visualization tools.
  • ETL and/or data pipelines
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software/Computer Engineering or related area is required.
  • Or, in addition to minimum experience required; a combination of relevant work experience and/or education sufficient to perform the duties of the job may substitute to meet the total years required on a year-for-year basis.
  • Certifications: Industry Specific certifications are highly valued and may contribute toward education.
