Exponent's Biomechanics Practice is currently looking for an Associate in our Phoenix office. The individual in this position will be primarily responsible for executing biomechanics consulting projects related to human injury analyses. This will involve analysis of the human body response to forces generated during an incident to determine potential for injury, analysis of the incident to determine if and/or how an injury occurred, and analysis of how such injuries could have been mitigated (e.g., seatbelt use, helmet use).
Key responsibilities for this position include:
Extensive review of both technical and non-technical materials to identify key facts and information (this may include reviewing police reports, medical/autopsy records, legal pleadings, expert reports, deposition testimony, photographs, vehicle specifications, and other documentation)
Research and review relevant scientific journals, publications, and testing, and be responsible for analysis and synthesis of technical biomechanical issues involving kinematics, dynamics, mechanisms of injury, and human tolerance
Clearly communicate findings via presentations and written reports
Demonstrate the ability to synthesize technical information into an easily understood format suitable for presentation to technical and non-technical audiences
The individual in this position will be working in a small team environment within the larger company-wide Biomechanics Practice, and as such, this individual will be expected to actively create and pursue opportunities to develop a positive work flow. While balancing the demands of project work, this individual is expected to participate in original research, publish papers in technical journals, and present findings at conferences.
Qualifications for this position include:
Ph.D. in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
At least 2 years of experience conducting technical analyses pertaining to injury potential, injury mechanisms, and injury mitigation in accident scenarios
Prior exposure to litigation consulting is desirable
