POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Director, Technical Product Management is a leader on the Technical Product Management team who leads a small team that owns a suite of products including our patient and physician portals, internal billing products and customer support systems. Defines scope and product requirements in support of systems critical to the operational and commercial success of Natera. Technical Product Manager team interacts cross-functionally to define goals, ensures successful launches and monitors performance of our technical systems.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Associate Director role is split between directing the group and acting as an individual contributor.
· As an Associate Director:
o Direct the TPM team by designing and implementing processes for effective technical product management.
o Manage the product roadmap and planning process for the Customer Applications team.
o Collaborate with the Customer Applications engineering team to best deliver on the roadmap.
· As individual contributor
o Act as liaison between clinical software product users, sales, marketing and software development teams.
o Transform business, market and clinical requirements into executable product requirements and specifications.
o Solicit customer feedback and funnel new requirements and product changes back into software development
o Become a product expert and subject matter expert on Natera software products
o Own and prioritize a feature backlog to align with the overall strategic roadmap.
o Communicate product roadmap and release schedules to stakeholders
o Communicate plans and progress to leadership and partner teams
o Evangelize your products across the organization, drive integration and ensure desired positive impact is achieved. Have a sense of ownership for everything you ship.


  • This role works with PHI on a regular basis both in paper and electronic form and have access to various technologies to access PHI (paper and electronic) in order to perform the job.
  • Employee must complete training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance training and security training as soon as possible but not later than the first 30 days of hire.
  • Must maintain a current status on Natera training requirements.
  • Employee must pass post offer criminal background check.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
  • 3+ years managing small team.
  • 8+ years of software product management experience.
  • Extensive experience writing commercial software product requirements and managing a backlog.

  • Highly organized with ability to multi-task.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of products and markets, or ability to learn quickly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office applications (e.g. MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint) required.
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team to achieve important goals together.
  • Ability to effectively work withinternal clinical domain experts and software development teams.
  • Very comfortable reading technical API document from third parties to identify opportunities.
  • Experience with JIRA or similar issue tracking system is a must.
  • Experience with business process management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Exemplary problem solving and analytical skills.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Duties are typically performed in an office setting.
  • This position requires the ability to use a computer keyboard, communicate over the telephone and read printed material.
  • Duties may require working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends) at times.
