Position Summary

This position is for a Lead professional and recognized thought leader in Supplier Performance, who drives supplier performance and business-wide metrics and leads on site assessments. Advises key suppliers on resolutions for significant issues that are likely to have a business-wide impact. Collaborates with executive management of key and critical supplies and leads coordination across sites and functional boundaries. Implements the resolution of company/department wide risks/obstacles with critical buyers to ensure manufacturing, supply chain, and delivery schedules are in alignment with customer needs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for transforming a manufacturing environment Continuous Improvement tools to achieve 100% on time delivery and perfect quality
  • Establish partnerships at all levels within the supplier, emphasizing: collaboration, clear expectations, common goals, trust and transparency
  • Identify trends and risks in performance metrics and data
  • Jointly develop recovery plans with supplier, then implement operating rhythm and metrics to hold supplier and stakeholders accountable for performance to plan
  • Drive engagement and cross-functional collaboration between Supply Chain, Engineering and Quality for both UTAS Aerostructures and the supplier
  • Assure supplier preparedness for activities such as executive reviews and production readiness assessments
  • Support corporate improvement initiatives by ensuring the supply base is trained on the common processes, lean manufacturing, quality systems, and other improvement tools
  • Ensure technical reviews are supported with the appropriate knowledge and experience to provide a thorough evaluation of the supplier's manufacturing capabilities
  • Ensure suppliers are managing capacity, demand and resource plans that demonstrate rate readiness
  • Prioritize supply base risk management and actions with sufficient leadtime prior to production rate increases
  • Complete due diligence activities to identify and assess supplier operational risks
  • Supports the demand management planning process to meet on-time delivery targets and future rate breaks
  • Develops effective shop floor visuals and efficient material flow in the value stream
  • Ensures demonstrated yield is used in all manufacturing planning


  • Bachelor's degree and 12 years of relevant experience OR
  • Advance degree and 10 years of relevant experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience is required

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Operations experience in aerospace, automotive or related industry, including leading teams or projects
  • Demonstrated experience leading lean transformations
  • Proven process improvement skills with natural curiosity and desire to understand how things work
  • Strong work ethic with a high degree of flexibility
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment; team player
  • Comfortable with ambiguity
