Associate Director, Quality – Jamestown, ND (Cargo Systems Site)
The Associate Director of Quality provides strategic leadership for all Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities at the Jamestown Cargo Systems site. This role ensures product conformity, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across manufacturing, supplier quality, customer quality, and quality systems. The leader partners cross‑functionally to drive zero-defect culture, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction for OEM and aftermarket cargo products.
What You Will Do
- Provide strategic leadership for all site Quality functions, including Manufacturing Quality, Supplier Quality, Customer Quality, Quality Engineering, and Quality Systems.
- Ensure compliance with all aerospace regulatory and customer requirements, such as AS9100, FAA/EASA regulations, PMA, FAI, PPAP, and internal RTX/Collins processes.
- Lead the Quality organization to achieve defect reduction, process control, stable yields, and cost-of-poor-quality improvement.
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Program teams to ensure robust PFMEA, control plans, inspection methods, MSA, and problem-solving processes (8D, A3, 5-Why, Fishbone).
- Act as the primary point of contact for customer quality matters, audits, and escalations; ensure timely, data‑driven, high-quality responses to customer issues.
- Oversee and mature site-level quality systems and ensure documentation integrity, audit readiness, and continuous improvement of QMS processes.
- Sponsor and facilitate MPRs, Zero-Defect initiatives, and lean methodologies within the Quality function.
- Develop and coach Quality leaders, engineers, and inspectors; build organizational capability and succession planning.
- Drive Quality participation in new product introductions, configuration control, and change management.
- Manage Quality performance metrics including NCMR trends, escapes, scrap/rework, supplier performance, and customer satisfaction.
- Prepare and present quality performance reviews to senior leadership and customers.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience
- Relevant experience in aerospace or regulated manufacturing environments.
- Experience with AS9100, FAA/EASA compliance, and aerospace product certification.
- Demonstrated leadership of Quality teams in a complex manufacturing setting.
- Proven track record driving quality improvements and leading cross-functional problem-solving.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience in cargo systems, interiors, or mechanical aerospace assemblies.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or ASQ certifications (CQE, CQM).
- Experience implementing zero-defect frameworks or advanced quality systems.
- Customer management experience (OEMs and regulatory bodies).

The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
