As a member of the Grants team, the Associate Director of Grants works with the Senior Director of Grants and agency leadership to develop high quality grant proposals that are consistent with Wheeler’s mission and strategic direction and provides post-award grants management for private and federal grants. Key responsibilities include grant writing, process/project management, researching, identifying, developing, and responding to grant opportunities in the targeted areas of primary care and integrated primary care and behavioral health as well as other areas of strategic interest. The Associate Director of Grants will also assist with program development and post-award reporting and will provide technical assistance and training for agency staff around the grant process.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS degree in liberal arts and sciences field plus a minimum of 4 years of related grant writing experience with public and private (federal, state, and foundations) grant proposals and applications is required. A master’s degree is preferred. Experience in the targeted areas of primary care and integrated primary care and behavioral health is preferred. Experience working at a large human services organization is preferred.
Demonstrated experience providing grants management on state, federal or private grants. Demonstrated experience and success writing state, federal, or foundation proposals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking skills, ability to develop grant proposals adhering to RFP guidelines, strong attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to work independently, synthesize complex ideas, and provide leadership, and strong ability to multitask and prioritize competing tasks. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure of deadlines. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, electronic grants management and submission systems (i.e., Grants.gov, eRA Commons), and other applications. Demonstrated ability to successfully work with a diverse population and stakeholders at various levels. Experience conducting academic literature reviews and/or research preferred.
