There are four Regional Security Directors assigned to specific geographical areas. They are responsible for providing primary security support for all company assets and operations, which include sales and marketing; manufacturing; and research, investigations, physical-personnel, IPR and supply chain security. Incumbents are also tasked with a leadership role on security matters, developing regionally customized core security strategies to meet their client’s business needs and serve as a key resource to the senior management of their client group.
Reporting to the North America (NA) Regional Security Director, the Associate Director, Global Security (ADRS) will be responsible for supporting regional Global Security Group (GSG) Operations. As part of a matrix global team, the ADRS will support the GSG NA Region’s Product Integrity Program; Insider Risk & Trade Secret Protection Program; Executive/Employee Protection; Crisis Management Program; Physical Security, and Aviation Programs.

Education Minimum Requirement

  • Bachelor Degree

Required Experience and Skills

  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of applied experience and demonstrated solid achievements in law enforcement or (10) years corporate security
  • Advanced Investigative skills, to include interviewing and report writing
  • Excellent presentation skills, with proven “customer service” orientation
  • Must be innovative and independent, able to manage an aggressive workload in a high performing environment
  • Committed to successfully operating in a matrixed environment with exceptional level of collaboration, clarity and honesty in dealing with peers, team members and all others in a flat and nimble organization
  • Ability to champion new ideas or positions to meet key goals and initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to work with wide range of individuals from diverse backgrounds, countries of origin, and at varying levels within the corporate structure
  • Ability to identify security issues and customize, implement and execute solutions
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with and supporting senior leadership and government officials
  • Promote Global Security Group (GSG) programs throughout NA Region
  • Collaborate and support Merck’s Man Guarding and Physical Security projects in NA
  • Support and coordinate GSG responsibilities concerning new corporate acquisitions and new physical assets in the NA Region
  • Assist with supply chain risk assessments
  • Conduct due diligence reviews of key GSG Security Vendors
  • Benchmark within the industry to identify best practices that will improve and enhance all GSG security programs and operations
  • Identify new methodologies that will enable GSG to uncover and address all security concerns within the Company
  • Provide security awareness training to the business and external partners as appropriate
  • Develop actionable intelligence opportunities through continued liaison with law enforcement and intelligence agencies
  • Identify cost/benefit security projects that add value to the business in the NA Region
  • Support investigations and other Security objectives as assigned
  • Meet all certification requirements to qualify under the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Armed Security Officer (ASO) Program and complete training process within one year of hire.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Working knowledge of digitalinvestigative techniques
  • CFE Certification
  • Spanish language skills
  • Masters Level education
