The Associate Director leads access related improvement initiatives coordinated by the Mount Sinai Doctors Faculty Practice utilizing a wide range of improvement tools and methodologies that advance Mount Sinai Health System's continuous improvement culture. The Associate Director plans, manages and executes complex improvement initiatives and evaluates the impact of improvement efforts in order to achieve the mission and vision of the health system, effectively utilizing a wide range of project management skills and improvement tools and methodologies. The Associate Director exercises access related management responsibilities across all campuses for front end operational activities including. Optimization and Enhancements in EPIC and eIDX. The Associate Director also acts as a leader for the department, serving as a supervisor to Manager and two Analysts

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Plans and executes complex data analysis to support leadership decision making in a variety of subject matter areas, including: Health System wide template optimization initiatives, utilizing knowledge of both EPIC and eIDX scheduling systems; Robotic Process Automation (RPA) initiatives; works with other MSDFP stakeholders to oversee quality measures, standardization and rollout of various patient satisfaction measures
  • Participate in the Analyzing and Designing of Front End processes and workflows, including EPIC Prelude registration, Cadence scheduling, My Chart direct, and Open scheduling. Optimize the patient self-check in processes utilizing Welcome tablets, My Chart e-Check In and future functionality
  • Independently leads, designs, manages, and executes access related improvement initiatives through all project phases; able to effectively manage multiple concurrent projects and proactively identifies and mitigates resource constraints and changes in project scope
  • Develops scope and plan for improvement initiatives, acquiring stakeholder buy in and leadership support, and establishing metrics and milestones; Utilizes expertise in improvement methodologies to appropriately identify the correct design and approach for initiatives, can communicate approach to outside stakeholders unfamiliar with improvement methodologies
  • Uses project management skills to: develop project plan and timeline for access related improvement projects; effectively track deliverables and delegate tasks; coordinate project summary presentations; and maintain oversight of all project related tasks necessary for project success
  • Coordinates and executes observational studies and evaluations to support improvement projects through interviews and in-person observations and supporting data analysis
  • Provides system analysis and supports in the design, implementation, maintenance and operation of EPIC and eIDX front-end applications including system upgrades, optimizations and enhancements. Assists users with moderate to complex level system related front-end operations inquiries. Assists department senior leadership in the implementation of operational policies and procedures and ensures operational efficiency is maintained throughout the health system
  • Leads access related system conversion and interface development. Consults with users to identify current operating procedures and recommends enhancements to operating procedures. Provides assistance to users with moderate to complex level front-end system related issues and problems
  • Designs presentations that distill and communicate analytical and observational findings to stakeholders, including creating figures and diagrams to illustrate and describe operations; skilled at providing guidance to colleagues in the development of clear and effective presentations
  • Effectively collaborates with stakeholders of all levels of staff, developing trusting working relationships with leadership, physicians, administration, and front line personnel. Considers context when presenting new access related projects and improvements
  • Creates training content and administers didactic training curriculum on improvement tools and methodologies. May administer training to all levels of the organization
  • Supports the professional development of junior staff, through constructive feedback on project deliverables and as a role model in all project activities, in leadership or supporting roles; actively identifies opportunities to informally mentor department staff
  • Supervises data analysis completed by analysts and provides feedback on approach and accuracy of findings
  • Maintains current knowledge of trends and evidence-based solutions for improving healthcare delivery and efficient operations
  • Drives continuous improvement within the department, contributing to the development of improved tools, project methods and internal knowledge base and project evaluation
  • Performs other duties as required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in public or business administration or a related field or equivalent education and experience; Masters (MPA, MPH, MBA or related) is preferred.
  • Experience: 5-7 years of experience in a professional business environment, with health related, project management and supervisory experience preferred
  • Certification: Epic Cadence preferred
