Overview of Position
The Associate Director/Director, Scientific Communications is a professional with scientific, clinical and therapeutic area expertise responsible for providing medical support for Taysha’s Medical products and compounds in development. This individual will be responsible for the execution of publications, conference planning and medical affairs training modules. Support the Taysha Medical Affairs goal to improve patient outcomes by identifying data gaps, generating data to fill gaps, and educating internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Development of the Medical Affairs strategic publication plan and ensure the timely execution of publications (e.g., manuscripts, abstracts, posters, white papers)
- Serve as the Medical Affairs lead for cross-functional publication planning team
- Oversee the development of program related scientific communication platforms (SCP)
- Development of Medical Affairs training curriculum and Company-wide training resources (training modules, slide decks, etc.)
- Oversee medical congress planning and execution of Medical Affairs congress activities (e.g., scientific congress coverage)
- Lead vendor/agency management for development of scientific communications projects (e.g., publications, slide decks) and manage related budgets
- Assist with the creation and implementation of policies (SOPs), and work instructions governing the operations of Scientific Communications to meet all compliance standards and regulations
- Establish strong collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Other duties as assigned
Education/Experience/Skills
- Advanced degree, e.g., PhD, PharmD or MD preferred with minimum of 7+ years in Medical Affairs or 3 years minimum of experience in scientific communications
- Product lifecycle management experience preferred
- Orphan diseases knowledge/experience preferred
- Neurology, Gene Therapy, and Critical care experience preferred
- Experience in developing a strategic publication plan and successful execution of publications is required
- Ability to write/edit scientific manuscripts, abstracts, posters
- Working knowledge of and ensure compliance with all relevant guidelines (GPP3, ICMJE), regulations, and industry standard best practices
- Excellent communication, written, verbal and presentation skills
- Proven ability to review, interpret and present complex scientific data
- Analytical and problem-solving skills; detail-oriented, independent and critical thinker
- Ability to multi-task and shift priorities quickly while working under tight deadlines
- Work across multi-disciplinary groups and lead decision-making discussions
