Job Description The GNF Department of Biotechnology and Biotherapeutics seeks a highly motivated and results-driven individual to lead a new team tasked with the engineering of adeno-associated viruses (AAV) for a variety of research and clinical applications. The ideal candidate should be a highly productive bench scientist who will lead a team tasked with the development of novel AAV technologies for enhanced targeted delivery, increased transduction efficiency, and improved production yields.

Essential Functions
• Extensive experience with the design, engineering, modification, production, purification, QA/QC and benchmarking of various AAV serotypes for in vivo DNA delivery
• Experience with high-throughput molecular automation in engineering new technologies also desirable
• Excellent background in mammalian cell and molecular biology, with an emphasis on the ability to develop, test, and functionally deploy end-to-end AAV workflows to achieve enhanced gene or anti-gene delivery
• Strong molecular biology background, including the use of NextGen sequencing technologies
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and perform in a fast-paced, automation-friendly, matrix-structured work environment
• Ability to communicate effectively across disciplinary boundaries with engineers, biologists, chemists, data scientists at a global scale
• Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Good multi-tasking, time management, and organizational skills
• Excellent leadership skills, including a demonstrated track record of supervising interdisciplinary teams of 2-10 members

Minimum requirements Minimum Qualifications
• PhD degree in virology, cell biology, immunology, or a related field with 4+ years post-graduate professional experience
• Authorship (any position) of > 4 peer-reviewed publications centered on the creation or use of AAV vectors
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience using AAV in murine models
• Direct experience with gene therapy or drug discovery workflows or concepts
