The opioid epidemic is devastating numerous communities throughout the United States including Western Pennsylvania.   The Alkermes Associate Director of Community Relations will work with all levels of community leaders to promote practices and policies that advance systemic and lasting change.  In particular the Associate Director of Community Relations will:


·         Engage addiction-related stakeholders regarding:                    

o    State and federal treatment requirements (e.g. Comprehensive Addiction & Recovery Act)

o    Awareness of funding opportunities from federal and state grant programs (CARA; Byrne JAG; SAMHSA MAT; drug/veterans/DUI courts; re-entry; state appropriations, etc.)

o    Identify community service gaps (e.g. absence of detox beds)

o    Importance of patient-centered care

·         Partner with Government Affairs & Policy and Patient Engagement on potential legislative needs and opportunities

·         Facilitate dialogue among diverse addiction-related stakeholders in local “ecosystems”


Requirements For Associate Director Level Role:

·         BA/BS required; advanced degreepreferred;

·         10 + years’ experience working for elected officials; or in public health; addiction treatment; behavioral health; law enforcement; criminal justice; or community organizing; or equivalent


Knowledge/Skills Needed:

·         Close working relationship with a variety of community leaders

·         Understanding of local policy processes (e.g. City Council, etc.) and the criminal justice systems

·         Understanding of addiction and behavioral healthcare


Personal Attributes Needed:

·         Exceptional verbal communication skills

·         Exceptional existing network in given geography

·         Strong networking skills essential

·         Thrives on solving complex problems

·         Intense sense of urgency to advance the interest of the patient

·         Ability to work compliantly within a regulated industry


Ability to travel up to 20%
