We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as an Associate Director - Cell Therapy Research IT Lead. You will lead a team and work with other Information Technology groups in supporting our efforts in this exciting new area of cell therapy.

This role will work closely with the Kite Research functions to deliver technology solutions that meet our critical business needs. This important role requires relationship management, business analysis, and project management skills as well as hands-on technical knowledge for various solutions such as ELN/LIMS (Benchling), Genomics Analysis (SevenBridges, GeneData Profiler), Flow Analysis (FlowJo, Omiq), Pathology Image Management and Analysis (Concentriq, Visiopharm), Cloud Computing (ex, AWS), Statistical computing (ex, SAS/RStudio) among others. Given the complex and cutting edge cell therapy research capabilities, this role requires to have prior experience in cell therapy and have strong scientific domain knowledge.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Build relationships with key Research stakeholders and become a domain expert in the business functional area.
  • Bring technology innovation to business discussions to enable business objectives or solve business pain points.
  • Lead a team accountable for execution and delivery of technology solutions by managing across IT (infrastructure, shared services, developers, vendors, security, etc.) and business functions (Research functional areas, Clinical data management, etc.).
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Architects, Operations Teams, Developers, Technology Partners, and Quality Assurance on scope, solutions, constraints, and risks.
  • Analyze/document current and future business process models - and be able to identify areas of potential improvement.
  • Use your knowledge of solutions to make and support recommendations to business partners, consistent with IT governance policies.
  • Perform knowledge transfer and provide ongoing leadership to support project go-live and beyond (operations and support activities).
  • Manage multiple technology partners and vendors in the delivery (legal, security reviews) and support of multiple systems.
  • Lead roadmap discussions with business stakeholders and maintain a rolling 3-year technology roadmap that reflects Kite Research objectives and goals.
  • Keep Sr. Leadership apprised of developments through clear and timely communication.
  • Help set annual goals for Research IT in partnership with business stakeholders.
  • Work with vendors, contractors, and business stakeholders in managing current and future budgeting.


Basic Qualifications:

PhD degree in Computer/Engineering or equivalent and 3+ years of IT solution development experience in industry OR Master's degree preferably in Computer/Engineering or equivalent and 8+ years of IT solution development experience in Industry OR Bachelor's degree preferably in in Computer/Engineering or equivalent and 10+ years of IT solution development experience in Industry

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in a business relationship management role delivering information systems projects.
  • Biotech/Life Science industry experience is a must.
  • Cell therapy experience in the last 5 years is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to quickly pick up and learn multiple IT systems.
  • Knowledge of the following applications is a plus: Benchling, Biovia ELN, FlowJo, Omiq, AWS omics, digital pathology systems, RStudio, SAS, Rosalind, Spotfire (or other data insights solutions).
  • Experience developing and delivering technical solutions across various business groups.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated excellence in critical thinking and analysis, small and large group facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with SaaS, PaaS models and managed services.
  • Knowledge of Computer System Validation and GxP processes is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability/experience in thinking at a high-level but have the ability to get into details
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work after hours as needed

Gilead and Kite Careers

The salary range for this position is: $168,980.00 - $218,680.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
