Job Summary

The Associate Chief Nurse Researcher in the Institute for Nursing Excellence will provide overall leadership, management, development, and oversight of programs, structures, and processes, and outcomes that promote clinical inquiry at UCSF Medical Center.

Clinical inquiry includes quality projects, evidence-based practice, primary and secondary research initiatives, and innovation in patient and family care.

The Associate Chief Nurse Researcher provides first-line resourcing, management, and mentoring to the Evidence Implementation Specialists and the Fishbon Library team within INEx. 



Required Qualifications

  • Two to five years recent working experience in a medical center environment
  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR certification
  • PhD or DNP in Nursing from an accredited program
  • Experience in coordinating clinical inquiry activities and teams to support ANCC Magnet re-designation status
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills to foster and promote an environment for effective communication and collaborative decision making across multiple units, work teams,  and disciplines
  • Excellent leadership, fiscal and operations management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with all disciplines. Ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented climate of teamwork, collaboration, and consistent achievement of objectives
  • Knowledge of medical center, HR and / or UC policies and processes. Knowledge of relevant compliance issues. Ability to apply policy knowledge to suggest improvements to clinical inquiry programs
  • Strong knowledge of relevant healthcareinformation technology and patient care workflows, clinical priorities, and processes
  • Strong user of business software. Broad knowledge of statistical and other research software and technology
  • Proven ability to organize department operations in an efficient and effective manner seeking and implementing process improvements
  • Project management and customer service skills to effectively manage multiple priorities in a complex, challenging environment. Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility, anticipates and effectively handles change
  • Experience in grant writing and all forms of clinical inquiry dissemination
  • The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required



Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) CSR Reviewer status 
  • Certified Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) CSR Trainer status 
  • Certified Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) CF Trainer status 



Licensure/Certification

  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR certification
