CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

MUST-HAVES

  • ASA with at least four years of accident and health actuarial experience
  • Experience with both individual and group products preferred
  • Experience with a pricing and projection system, such as in Excel, Poly systems, TAS, etc.
  • Experience and understanding of GAAP and Statutory Balance Sheets and Income Statements
  • Bachelor?s degree in math, actuarial sciences, or related discipline

NICE-TO-HAVES

  • Ability and desire to stay current on trends in the supplemental product space and help translate those trends into actionable objectives
  • Demonstrated track record of analytical leadership
  • Experience managing actuarial staff a plus
  • Demonstrating the ability to prepare and analyze complex actuarialreports
  • Supplemental health and Life insurance experience

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The ideal candidate will be experienced in the design and pricing of supplemental accident and health insurance, understand the GAAP and Statutory valuation requirements for those products, and have the ability to nurture strong working relationships with peers in marketing, sales, operations, compliance, accounting, underwriting, and IT. You will provide analysis to support business decision-making and strategy, utilizing expert actuarial and analytic techniques. The successful applicant will appreciate the rigorous requirements of actuarial science yet enjoy the challenge of defining and improving processes in a growing and dynamic environment.

Core Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and produce Rate Level Indications. Drive process improvement by integrating best practices.
  • Provide product design, premium rate development, and product filing support
  • Calculate Risk Capital for Pricing and Enterprise Risk Management, including model development and enhancements. Understand and support capital allocation estimates and processes.
  • Drive and support the building of experiencereports, including complete trend and loss ratio analyses by business segment/line of business and state.
  • Complete ad hoc actuarial analyses as required, such as increased limits, deductible, coverage changes or new coverage features, etc.
  • Support development & implementation of data & information strategy, working collaboratively with other stakeholders.
