Job Details: Summary of Position Description

The Associate Systems Engineer role is the first level of a three-level career path. Systems Engineers design, implement, and manage the hardware, software, and processes of end-user and system architectures deployed within the MaineHealth system. They deliver technical solutions per specified plans, deliverables, costs, and timelines. They gather business requirements and translate them into IT solutions. They maintain and support the core systems infrastructure, to include management, patching, software deployments, network integration, virus protection, and application access technologies. They are attentive to requirements such as performance, high availability, disaster recoverability, information systems security, data protection and integrity, etc. They act as liaison with vendor support resources for support and troubleshooting purposes.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent work experience

    1. 2+ years of significant hands-on enterprise-level experience in the following disciplines:

    1. Microsoft operating systems, deployed on physical or virtual hardware

    1. Implementing, managing, and supporting servers and/or workstations, operating systems, applications, and support tools in an enterprise environment

    1. Lifecycle management for hardware, operating systems, and infrastructure applications, including capacity planning, deployment, maintenance, updates, upgrades, and decommissioning

    1. Delivering applications and tools in a standardized and consistent manner

    1. Account management and access control

    1. Operating in an Active Directory environment to manage and manipulate objects and policies

    1. Troubleshooting systems for functionality, stability, performance, availability, security, etc.

    1. Documentation, testing, and quality assurance processes

    1. Monitoring and alerting for availability and performance

    1. Risk mitigation, systems planning, and change control

    1. Implementing, supporting, and monitoring security-related applications and configurations, such as operating system and application patching, anti-virus, whitelisting, encryption, and firewalls, including conducting securityaudits and addressing findings

    1. Strategic planning and development of operational plans

  1. Skilled in multiple of the following technology areas: messaging, virtual applications and operating systems, mobility systems, remote access, application packaging and delivery mechanisms, information security, digital fax and print management, data center operations, single sign-on, web infrastructure and services, reverse proxy, DNS, operating system and application patching, clustering, monitoring/alerting, backups/archiving, disaster recovery, networking
