The Medical Director must be a board certified toxicologist and must be eligible for medical staff privileges at UConn Health’s John Dempsey Hospital. Emergency Medicine board certification is preferred but not essential. S/he must have demonstrated management and administrative leadership experience. Experience with business development, staff development and/or MBA (health care) are desirable assets. A hardworking team player with strong interpersonal abilities and collaborative skill are necessary.
The Medical Director will:
assume responsibility for clinical activities of the staff and for the appropriateness and quality of information and recommendations provided
see patients in a clinical setting appropriate for the Medical Director’s specialty
oversee management guideline review and development
collaborate with the Administrative Director, to whom the PCC staff report, in matters of personnel, budget, Q/A and clinical guidelines
assure the staff has continuous availability to a qualified medical toxicologist 24 hours a day for guidance and assistance in managing cases when needed
collaborate with the Administrative Director in ensuring the performance of continuous quality improvement and assist in the selection of educational content
Serve as Principal Investigator for the Center’s grants.
