Functions/Duties of Position

The Assistant Professor will function as a clinician at Cascades East Family Medicine Center and will have privileges at this Sky Lakes Medical Center. Academically, the applicant will have a primary appointment in Family Medicine. The Assistant Professor will practice clinical medicine at this site, and other approved sites when appropriate.

The Assistant Professor shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. Duties include:

  • Work collaboratively with full and part timefaculty to maintain an active practice
  • See patients in clinic eight half days per week with two half days available for administrative duties
  • Document using the electronic health record and maintain complete and timely patient care documentation consistent with OHSU and Cascade East Family
  • Medicine Center and Sky Lakes Medical Center policies and procedures
  • Participate in teaching activities

The Assistant Professor will participate in seeing patients during expanded access hours in the clinic, including evenings, weekends, and call coverage. The Assistant Professor will be expected to have a strong commitment to developing the practice into a vibrant clinical and academic operation, which is successful from both a professional and business perspective. Expectations for number of patients seen per half day will be commensurate with that of other faculty and with minimum target numbers of 8-10 visits per half day depending on complexity of the patient population.

Compensation for the position will include a base academic salary and a clinical salary. By mutual agreement between the Department and the physician, this position may include Inpatient Care with call duties being shared with the faculty inpatient call group.
