The applicant must possess a PhD in Computer Science or a Data Science-related discipline at the time of appointment. The successful candidate must demonstrate evidence of a track record of impactful publications in high quality journals and conferences. The successful applicant needs to contribute to the Faculty's innovative teaching and research initiatives, including our highly successful professional graduate programs
The successful applicant must have demonstrated expertise in the latest big data processing approaches, data analysis, information presentation and visualization, machine learning, cloud computing, or distributed processing of sensors and computational devices.
The candidate must have strong interests in multi-disciplinary approaches in exploring artificially intelligent systems as partners to augment scientific inquiries, support innovative exploration of ideas, and investigate how smart technologies and artificial intelligence can be used to benefit our society and help solve scientific, social, and environmental challenges.
The candidate in Fundamental Data Science needs to demonstrate evidence of foundational research in data science and machine-based analytics, thus creating the next generation of artificial intelligence systems (including but not limited to deep learning and explainable AI). We are also seeking applicants with demonstrated evidence of expertise in neuroscience-inspired artificial intelligence to investigate, for example, human/brain-computer interfaces, neuroscience-inspired machine learning architectures, and their applications.
