KSNV, the Sinclair owned NBC affiliate in Las Vegas, has an immediate opening for an Assistant News Director! The successful candidate will assist the news director in managing the news department and setting the vision for future growth. We are looking for a leader who is passionate about the future of journalism, has a desire to pursue excellence, and is relentless in their execution to win the big story every day on every platform. A strong background in producing newscasts, copy editing and implementing digital strategies is critical in order to succeed in this role.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assigned newscasts, including evaluating stories, organizing them into a cohesive sequence within a newscast, and overseeing writing, production, and timing of broadcast
  • Define strategic direction for content coverage to meet business objectives
  • Manage news room, contribute to the editorial process and make solid decisions in breaking news situations
  • Execute strategies that engage and grow audiences across all digital devices
  • Write, produce and edit material for a newscast that appeals to targeted audiences

Requirement and Qualifications:

  • At least 5+ years’ experience in television or radio broadcast/production, experience in a management position required
  • Manage news room, contribute to the editorial process and make solid decisions in breaking news situations
  • Execute strategies that engage and grow audiences across all digital devices
  • Write, produce and edit material for a newscast that appeals to targeted audiences
  • Must be able to interact well with video journalists, anchors, videographers, news managers, production and engineering staff
  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent verbal, written, and analytical skills
  • Strong news judgment, journalistic integrity and understanding of viewer needs and expectations
