The Assistant Manager will support the Corporate Procurement Manager/Senior Manager in the area of purchasing and additionally assist in the management & direction of Corporate Procurement department operations through the establishment of the short and long term planning of goals and objectives, proper utilization of man-power and budget resources.

Responsibilities:

• Aid in the management of corporate efforts on mandated nation-wide major procurement, supplier development and cost savings programs for AHM while additionally supporting North American MRO procurement strategies
• Coordinate assigned large scale procurement team activities through identifying, evaluating and the selection of potential suppliers while coordinating meetings with suppliers and business groups to help establish specification requirements
• Initiate requests for proposal and evaluate responses for best value
• Negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best possible pricing, terms and delivery in support of the business
• Assist business groups in understanding quotations and making sound decisions
• Follow up with suppliers to assure that deliverables are met; review purchase requisitions, place purchase orders, exercise signature authority in accordance with AHM's guidelines
• Schedule planning meetings with business groups and track changes in business requirements
• Provide management with performance data and identify areas for improvement
• Assist department management in the direction of staff and company efforts contributing to effective cost savings/cost avoidance measures and the development of procurement practices and procedures
• On-going evaluation of procurement best practices in support of department goals and objectives
• Evaluate Purchase Requisitions from $500K to $750K for compliancy and adherence to MAG guidelines while additionally ensuring that document support and process approvals are in accordance with SOX compliancy measures in place
• Manage the procurement process of key divisional projects that are of a higher complexity and require a greater degree of experience, skill-set and procurement knowledge to achieve the successful result
• Supervision and management of team(s) workload and workflow
• Allocation of resources to ensure timely review and assessment of work product
• Develops team(s) and talent with diverse capabilities while fostering personal commitment and excellence
• Sets example with ethics, work habits, adherence to policies and approach while fostering a positive work environment, including acknowledgement of associate contributions

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business or closely related field or equivalent work experience
• 13+ years of work experience with 8+ years procurement experience, including experience leading a team of direct reports is required
• Previous team management supervision experience
• Strong negotiation, communication and presentation skills are required -Experience in negotiation and review of procurement contracts and agreements
• Basic computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
• Familiarity with PeopleSoft, SAP or major ERP system(s), with catalog administration knowledge
• A.P.P., C.P.M. or CPSM is strongly desired
