Responsible for the North American Operational Accounting functions (Cost Accounting, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable). Partner with operational departments to ensure the accuracy of the North American Financial Statements in accordance with USGAAP. Provide oversight with respect to risk identification, monitoring of key reserves & metrics, efficiency improvements, internal management reporting. Ensure processes are compliant with internal controls and other local requirements.
Direct the day-to day transactional processes and procedures of the North American Cost Accounting, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable departments to ensure compliance with US GAAP, transfer pricing obligations, and local rules and regulations.
Review and monitor monthly operating and balance sheet results. Monitor and manage key balance sheet areas such as LCM reserves, impairments, DOH, DSO, credit risk, PPV, capitalization of costs and fixed assets. Coordinate with North American JV Partners (Mexico/Brazil) to ensure submitted financials are in accordance with USGAAP and reserves are adequate. Partner with South American teams on credit, customs & importation and transfer pricing compliance. Assist with variance analysis, special projects and establishment of back-office processes and procedures for new JV and other partners.
Proactively identify operational process improvements to generate efficiencies and cost savings, improve the accuracy of the financial statements, general global process consistencies and reduce risks. Facilitate the development and execution of improvements with internal partner departments (such as Retail Finance, Wholesale, HR, Store Operations, Procurement, Sourcing, Production and International teams).
Act as a liaison with external and internal auditors on operational and reporting matters. Ensure timely completion of all follow-up items/issues from audit reports. Ensure the design and execution of processes which are compliant with Sarbanes-Oxley.
Responsible for the coaching and development of staff members. Monitor performance and provide continuous feedback to staff. Recruit talent and develop career paths to retain staff members.
