Reporting to the Director of Operations & Administration, the Assistant Director of Operations, manages and coordinates daily operations, including campus events, facility service requests, and management of the Dean/Finance & Administration floor for the Tandon School of Engineering. In this capacity, the Assistant Director of Operations will implement quality assurance systems that identify service level inconsistencies and works closely with counterparts in Academic Departments, Athletics, IT & Media Support, Registrar, Academic & Student Affairs, Dining, Public Safety, student groups and other related University partners on campus events and special projects. On a daily basis, the Assistant Director of Operations manages competing priorities and takes a lead in troubleshooting operational complications.


Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field to academic operations.

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in business, project management or related fields

Required Experience:
-Minimum 3-5 years of administrative management experience at a large college or university

-Experience taking on projects involving complex operations and logistics

-Must have prior supervisory experience

-Established record of excellence in managing building and event operations

-Excellent planning and management skills

-Must be a strategic thinker and detail oriented, with a collaborative style that encourages teamwork and cooperation

-Must be committed to excellent service quality standards

-Must be self-motivated and have creative problem solving skills

-Must have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills

-Demonstrated ability to work independently, managing conflicting priorities and deadlines

-Strong organizational skills with ability to create efficient systems particularly utilizing data analysis

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
-Familiarity with software applications for project management, room reservations and asset tracking

-Ability to develop, implement and communicate policies and procedures to a diverse population

-Familiarity with the organizational environment of higher education and large research universities
