This position will immediately serve in the role as team leader and facilitator for the event sales area within the department. An expected reorganization of the department will broaden the responsibilities shortly after the position is expected to begin. The interim role will be to lead and provide for contracting, sales and facilitation of events from non-UNLV sources in the event, conference housing and marketing areas directly. It will supervise one full-time staff and indirectly supervise a graduate assistant and four student staff. Assuming final approval, the transition might take place in February/March 2019.

That revised position under the re-organized structure will require the candidate to serve as the team leader for sales generation, event coordination and summer conference housing operations. This Assistant Director position exists to establish processes which serves the clients and groups which utilize Conference & Event Services. This position will support and engage in the generation of at least $2 million annually through internal and external event sales, facilitate the event coordination needs in a client-centered manner; support the conference housing summer program; and hire, train and provide supervision to full-time staff as a part of a unified Student Union & Event Services team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Optimizing space utilization in meeting and Conference Housing facilities Providing tours to potential clients and answering questions regarding reservable spaces and services of SUES Initiating and negotiating Full Service Contracts for conference and event clients Provide and role model exemplary customer service through entire guest eventexperience. Ensuring highest standards of service in contracting and booking new, external clients With the team, facilitating a seamless client experience from inquiry initiation until the completion of their event. Making recommendations to the Associate Director of Conference & Event Services for policy and procedure implementation Create procedures and ensure pre-event and on-site event management includes coordination efforts between various UNLV service providers, including running stake-holder meetings and major eventforecastingreports Recruit, hire, train, supervise, create a unified team, and evaluate six full-time staff members and oversee supervision of student and graduate staff. Set policies, procedures and standards in place for event coordination for all SUES' events, in conjunction with the Associate Director of Conference & Event Services.

This position requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and five years of post-bachelors, full-time experience in sales, marketing, events, conference housing, or other directly related area. Two years of experience in direct supervision of full-time staff is required.


Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
