The Assistant Controller will report to the Director of Finance and will assist the Finance and Accounting team by leading and coordinating accounting system management, financial planning, budget management, month-end close management, and various other accounting and finance projects as needed.

Accounting and Finance

  • Manage and maintain the integrity and accuracy of project/cost accounting systems, financial statements, and managerial reporting
  • Ensure the accuracy of all journal entry submissions, project accounting coding, and completion of month-end close processes
  • Oversee and manage all balance sheet reconciliations and other financial detail schedules (included, but not limited to current deferral and accrual schedules)
  • Assist in the preparation and management of month-end performance reports and budget-to-actual analysis
  • Lead and manage projects related to the automation and migration of processes within business systems
  • Develop, implement, and manage accounting policies and procedures
  • Support the internal & external audit by compiling & preparing requested documentation.
  • Assist with due diligence on and integration of acquired entities

General Management & Business Support

  • Lead, coach, and train team members including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
  • Prepare and improve the process surrounding monthly and quarterly reporting and budget
  • Collaborate with business unit leaders (including Sales, Analysis, and Technology) and present recommendations to leadership regarding various business improvement initiatives
  • Protect organization's value by ensuring the integrity and security of data and maintenance of confidential information

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance
  • 6-8+ years' Accounting and Finance experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA or equivalent certification required
  • Project/Cost Accounting experience preferred
  • Comfortable preparing and presenting recommendations to Senior Leadership
  • Must be able to communicate and present clear and concise recommendations
  • Comfortable managing large sets of data across multiple platforms and systems
  • Experience in process improvement and project management
  • Solutions oriented / Critical thinker / Proactive worker / Shows initiative
  • Accounting Knowledge & Skills preferred: CAS compliance, SFAS Rules, GAAP proficiency, Reporting Skills, Deadline-Oriented, Time Management, Attention to Detail, Confidentiality
