Multifamily Assistant Controller

Our client is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their growing and innovative company in Buckhead. The qualified candidate will be responsible for our Multifamily Accounting Team and Multifamily Accounting Department. This is a comprehensive position that requires a motivated self-starter who enjoys challenges, is analytical and detail-oriented.

In this role- you will be instrumental in several areas including:

  • Recruit, develop, and retain a strong Accounting team capable of effectively scaling with business growth
  • Establish multifamily accounting policies
  • Manage and ensure timely and accurate monthly financial statements
  • Coordinate completion of year-end taxreporting and financial statement audits with outside accounting firms
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting and research technical accounting issues for compliance
  • Process year-end 1099’s
  • Oversee the accounts payable process for all properties
  • Develop and ensure compliance with internal controls
  • Review and assist with property budgets
  • Monthly owner distributions
  • Maintain and/or implement software
  • Oversee the accounting for new properties and terminating properties
  • Work alongside regional managers and property managers to produce necessary reports and answer questions regarding property accounts including variances from budget; assist with the preparation of cash flow projections to determine funding requirements or cash distribution amounts
  • Understand and comply with accounting policies and procedures; recommend and implement process improvements as appropriate
  • Frequently interact with various levels of management and other departments as well as with auditors, lenders and other 3rd parties; prepare additional reports and analysis as required by various parties
  • Special projects and other duties, as assigned by Vice President of Multifamily
  • Protect company’s value by keeping information confidential
  • Leverage educational opportunities to expand job knowledge, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations


  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills a must, and YARDI experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPApreferred
  • Prior property management experiencerequired- will consider office or residential
