The Construction Engineering Services group at DEA is actively seeking a qualified Assistant Construction Project Manager with a range of experience and skills for its transportation construction project management needs in the Oregon Region. This position likely be assigned to either the Portland or Salem DEA office, depending on projects and successful candidate’s geographic needs. The appropriately qualified applicants will be able to demonstrate an established career in construction management along with but not limited to the following responsibilities:

  • Support and day-to-day management of DEA staff on construction projects, acting under the direction of regional management staff, owner’s staff or independently
  • Monitor construction management activities and compliance with project requirements, including contract plans and specifications, agency and jurisdictional requirements, and best trade practices
  • Interact and support project client representatives and stakeholders
  • Communicate, prepare written letters and maintain correspondence with client representatives and constructioncontractors
  • Negotiate and prepare constructioncontract change orders
  • Review and coordination of quality and quantity documentation for transportation construction projects
  • Participate in the proposal writing and review process with regional marketing staff
  • Develop schedules, scope of services and fee estimates for projects that are won and approved by the client

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Oregon preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of professional public or consulting experience managing work on various transportation and infrastructure design and construction projects
  • Construction inspection and field support experience on ODOT and/or local agency (cities, counties) projects 
  • ODOT design and constructionexperiencepreferred
