The Art Director (AD) is a strategic conceptual thinker, problem solver and strong leader of people all in one. The AD works in close partnership with the Marketing Creative Director and Brand President in all marketing related creative areas from conceptualization to execution. This position assists the Creative Director with strategic creative development, art direction, campaigns and photo/video shoots, as well as art directs design team members, and successfully collaborates with marketing Directors, Manager Graphic Design and Omni Channel teams. The AD works closely with the project manager and brand producer to ensure creative guidelines and the correct brand direction is being implemented across all projects. This role will assist in establishing and executing the creative concepts of UGG across all channels of communication (paid, owned and earned media) to deliver a unique and consistent brand identity and messages that inspire and connect with target consumers.
The role needs to have extensive knowledge of strategy and creative concept development, with a keen understanding of customer segmentation and how best to connect with target consumers. This role also needs to have a deep understanding and experience of all digital touch points, with an intrinsic interest in all social platforms. They need the ability to execute with a fashion leading aesthetic, and have experience working with global luxury brands.
This role will have high levels of peer-to-peer strategic management with the Marketing Director, Graphic Manager, Product Director, Design Director, Brand President, VP Sales and counterparts in the Omni Channel organization, including international markets. This role may also manage creative agencies as needed.

Job Duties, Responsibilities and Requirements Brand Design Vision, Strategy, Digital 1st POV
Develop and present brand design strategy, themes, and implement changes across all marketing material, sales, and product/merchandising applications – with a focus on digital channels. Leverage consumer insights and consumer segmentation data to ensure all brand deliverables are relevant to the UGG brand’s target consumers. Role is a key influencer and should engage others to understand that vision.
Leading with the consumer first, and in support of overarching brand strategy, responsible for leading all brand design vision, strategies, language and concepts, overseeing design from internal design teams, and implementing brand strategy while helping define & maintain brand identity standards.
Creative Services Art Direction
Establish and execute art direction for day to day graphic needs for the brand (catalogs, advertising, photography, pop, email, web, video, tradeshows, creative concepts, etc…). Art direct all design & brand experience executed by the internal design team, so that they can produce and implement effective messaging of ads, communications tools, digital, visual collateral, etc. Will work with Manager Graphic design, senior designers and production specialists, ensure on brand and on time delivery of assets.
Oversee the art direction on all activities of the graphic design team and provide guidance on brand identity and seasonal vision.
Provide clear, constructive and actionable critiques of design work
Shoot Art Direction
Art Direct on location or studio photoshoots in close partnership with the Marketing Creative Director and Brand Producer. Ensure brand direction and brand guidelines are being followed in all content production. Ensure briefs and channel needs are being met during content production. Post production follow up including image selects, mark ups, color direction, cropping, & layouts.
Budget & Resourcing
Understands and is proactive in finding ways to deliver premium and leading creative solutions within budget.
Drive open communication with international teams and internal teams to ensure clarity of creative guidelines, as well as full visibility on all creative assets available, deadlines, creative concepts and approvals on international work.
Find and implement best practices for design/video/brand environment work that is innovative and brings new ideas to the team.
Education & Experience
Minimum 7-10 years similar experience in a combination of branding, strategic creative development, conceptual design thinking, and graphic/digital design with a strong background in digital and social media
Real world digital brand experience required
Experience managing and negotiating with outside vendors, photographers, designers, videographers, etc.
Experience developing, directing, and implementing high level creative concepts and initiatives
Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
Knowledge in video scripting, production and editing.
Knowledge of Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere.
Ability to create Flash and HTML5.
Expert knowledge of Lightroom and recoloring/retouching.
Knowledge in the print process, including multiple page layout, paper and ink selection.
Ability to manage multiple projects across many different design disciplines.
Knowledge of the design process and creative direction from concept to execution.
Ability to provide artistic direction to staff to execute ideas.
Overall business acumen & market knowledge of both domestic and global markets.
