Job description   Responsibilities

  • Plan, dispatch, and manage daily truck movements to ensure safety, maximize customer service, reduce cost and maintain carrier relationships
  • Work with supply chain teams at both Mill facilities to ensure exceptional delivery performance
  • Monitor customer forecasts and Mill production levels to identify changes and determine their impact on supply chain activities
  • Work with Shipping Manager to determine daily loading priorities
  • Responsible for ordering rail cars
  • Develop relationships with transportation vendors to reduce freight costs and shipping times
  • Negotiate spot prices and terms with transportation service providers
  • Point of contact with carriers for security and performance issues
  • Works with carriers and AP to resolve freight billing issues
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable State and Federal regulations
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide vacation relief for inbound OCC Manager


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management
  • 5+ years of transportation management experience, preferably in a high volume manufacturing or transportation operation
  • Knowledge of applicable transportation regulations and best practices
  • Must have strong understanding of van freight market and production scheduling
  • Experience negotiating with vendors and suppliers of shipping/freight services
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to form and maintain relationships both internally and externally.
  • Ability to problem solve and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic understanding of rail freight
  • Proven analytical skills and strong financial acumen
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be able to work irregular hours as needed
  • Proficiency with PC Miler, TMS, database, spreadsheet, and word processing software
  • Ability to travel to plant locations as needed (between 10-20% of work time)
