Job Overview

TE Connectivity has an Area Sales Manager position available in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania or Columbus / Cleveland / Akron Ohio area.  This role is within the Energy Business Unit (BU). The Area Sales Manager is accountable for supporting order and revenue targets within the assigned region.  The team member will be accountable for managing direct utility and industrial customers as well as rep agents and distributors calling on the public power and industrial accounts in the territory.

 

 

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:

- Identify, evaluate/qualify and develop sales leads for new products, penetration and expansion of existing product lines and sales channels
- Develop and implement sales strategies for assigned territory to ensure revenue and profitability optimization
- Monitor and work to predict industry trends and competitor activity and apply them in sales plan development
- Develop and maintain relationships at multiple levels within the customer organization to position TE as a strategic partner with a competitive advantage
- Drive sales growth through maximization of resources and execution of market segment strategies - Support New Product Development and proactively develop new product sales
- Work closely with Product Managers to develop and implement pricing and promotional strategies - Collect, evaluate, communicate and apply market information and competitive intelligence
- Plan and participate in trade/product shows, seminars, industry trade organizations, district and regional sales meetings in order to identify opportunities
- Develop and manage sales forecasts for assigned territory
- Update sales activities and opportunities utilizing industry standard tools such as salesforce.
- Update sales forecast using JDA

Qualifications:
 
- BS/BA in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; Master’s Degree or MBA a plus
- 2 to 4 years of sales experience preferably selling engineered products
- Effective organizational and interpersonal skills

- Proven leadership experience, problem solving abilities and analytical skill
- Excellent oral/written communication and influencing skill
- Must have the ability to work independently
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of project management principles. Project management experience is a plus
- Ability to multitask and work/train in a fast paced environment
- Experience working with MS Power Point, Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Must be willing and able to travel approximately 50% of the time
