The J.R. Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held organization, with roots firmly planted inagriculture and agriculture-related businesses.  These endeavors have been around for centuries andwill continue to be a vital part of the global economy.  We currently have an Area Sales Manager position available for the Southern CA region in our Pro Products Division. Professional Products is a division of Simplot Agribusiness headquartered in Boise, Idaho. 

 

SUMMARY 
Establishes and maintains relationships with Professional Products customers, distributors and end users, to promote the sale of BEST and or Apex fertilizers products. Develops regional sales strategies to distinguish Simplot from competitors, makes recommendations on price establishment. Monitors product availability, delivery and resolves product problems. Works with other Area Sales Managers to set goals and facilitate sales plans.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Additional Key Activities: Resolves problems that have occurred in pricing, shipping or delivery. Performsadministrative duties, preparing reports and developing budget inputs.

  • Performs public speaking at professional seminars and association gatherings. Participates in sales meetings, training sessions and seminars to stay abreast of current marketing and sales information and products.
  • Coordinating sales and marketing programs throughout their Turf grass territory.
  • Maintains contact and build relationships with distributors and their sales force through sales calls, emailand telephone contact.
  • Positions Simplot products into marketplace through direct contact with end users (Golf course superintendents, Landscapers, Cities and Municipalities and Nurseries).
  • Developing sales plans, coordinating activities with other area managers.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree from 4 year college or university
  • Ten plus years related experience and/or training.
  • In depth knowledge of Simplot/BEST and or Apex products, as well as assigned area turfgrass and or nursery market.
  • Understanding of the complexity of distribution marketing.
  • Sales skills, organizational skills and the ability to delineate and share these with others.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential.
  • Able to be self motivated and work without direct supervision.
  • An advanced understanding of fertilizer sales and marketing functions.
  • Ability to communicate and work with other sales individuals.
  • The ability to develop relationships with key distributor personnel influencing sales of Best and or Apex Fertilizer.
