  • Provides direction and leadership to the corporate and plant quality teams and the plant leadership team consistent with company, department and plant business plans.
  • Responsible for the performance appraisal of direct reports and for providing input into the performance appraisal of the salaried plant quality associates. Responsibilities include mentoring, coaching, counseling and corrective action when situations dictate.
  • Responsible for assisting in the identification, selection, training and coaching of quality and management talent.
  • Assess and build leadership bench-strength and organizational capabilities as well as create a collaborative high performance work environment.
  • Provides guidance and counsel to leadership and functional management teams on a variety of issues including quality standards, problem solving, containment levels, associate development, team building, etc.
  • Provides leadership in all quality programs and processes including the development, coordination, implementation, and maintenance of quality programs, processes and services including policy development and compliance.
  • Assess training needs and develop tools to effectively address associate development at all levels of the organization
  • Plans and delivers Corporate and customized quality services in support of plant, department and regional objectives.
  • Ensure product and process compliance to customer and IATF 16949 requirements.
  • Develop and implement corporate standardization activities.
  • Guide the plant Quality Managers in providing prioritized direction and leadership to ensure appropriate and consistent quality standards and processes throughout the plants consistent with the Company's business plan objectives while assisting senior plant leadership in defining and communicating clear responsibilities for quality standards and processes.
  • Guide the research, development and implementation of programs and best practices to minimize quality defects through implementation of proactive and innovative programs.
  • Guide and assist in leading initiatives to assess and minimize quality risks and work with Supervisors, Managers and associates to integrate quality into daily work activities.
  • Provide active leadership role in meeting / exceeding customer expectations in all related areas.
  • Utilize teamwork to develop department synergy.
  • Guide and teach problem solving methods for related plant and customer issues.
  • Guide and lead the process for internal quality systems audits and corresponding corrective action and improvement activities.
  • Create an environment conducive to the maintenance of high-quality standards.
  • Oversee department manning levels and assure compliance and improvements to the budget.
  • Responsible for ensuring the entire team has the necessary tools and materials to properly perform their roles safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization.

Managerial Responsibilities
• Develop and drive the development of departmental strategy and goals along with identifying and tracking key measurable to support the goals.
• Use company metric format to effectively track monitor and implement required corrective/improvement activities related to business plan, goals, issues, etc.
• Develop and drive implementation of a companywide progressive quality system to prevent defects and exceed customer expectations and achieve customer/quality awards (ex. IATF16949, Q1, etc.).
• Ensure that all quality policies and required operating procedures and work instructions are being followed.
• Oversee the activities of required customer actions to assure timely and proper responses.
• Interface with customers and suppliers as appropriate.
• Oversee proper and timely quality related participation in advanced product and process planning activities (ex. planning, control plans, capability studies, PPAP, etc.)
• Represent the company with customers/suppliers during on-site visits, surveys and meetings and presentations at the customer/supplier locations.
• Responsible for ensuring that information regarding customer requirements is reviewed and disseminated.
• Assure the correct use of inspection equipment and data gathering / analysis, and whenever possible utilize latest technology applications.
• Maintain a current knowledge of quality assurance and control techniques.
• Ensure accountability and discipline within the department.
• Assist with plant activities to achieve quality, productivity and cost reduction goals for the plant and the customer.
• Assist with plant activities toward achieving customer awards and Quality registrations (ex. TS16949, Pentastar, etc.)
• Ability to travel frequently.

Required experience:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Management or Business, appropriate ASQC certification. Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum ten (10) years as a quality assurance manager or equivalent experience, and six (6) years management experience.
• Knowledge of quality tools, practices, systems and corresponding integration.
• Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills.
• Experience in applying lean manufacturing concepts.
• Proven leadership ability and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to interpret financial and performance data.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
• Familiar with GD&T, PPAP, APQP, IATF and other customer specific requirements.
