Looking for a new career!  We are seeking a professional Area Engineer to join our Pipeline Technical Team located in Clear Lake, TX.  In this position, you will actively provide daily technical support and leadership to drive improvement in operations, maintenance, process safety, and reliability of assets within an assigned geographical area of responsibility.  Resolves problems through troubleshooting & operator knowledge, and implements solutions in a timely manner.  Leads the design, installation, and upgrade of facilities via capital and expense projects.  Assists in the planning and execution of pipeline integrity management activities; and supports business development opportunities.  Responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state pipeline regulations, corporate Operational Excellence standards, and Equistar Pipeline procedures. 


Critical competencies include:

  • Working knowledge of pipeline regulations, design, operations, and maintenance
  • Knowledgeable in chemical and process engineering aspects, OSHA PSM regulations, and relevant company Operational Excellence standards
  • Ability to applyengineering concepts to solve operational problems
  • Experience developing process design packages, project scopes, and related economics
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills and techniques
  • Self-directed, able to work effectively with minimal supervision



  • BS Degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil
  • Minimum of 5years relevant work experience in pipeline and/or petrochemical industries
  • Ability to applyengineering concepts to solve operational issues
  • Demonstrated knowledge of statistical application such as Six Sigma as well as incident investigation methodologies such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and/or Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Self-directed with ability to work with minimal direct oversight; able to manage multiple/changing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Travel (up to 25%) is required for this position
