REM South Central Services is seeking a passionate leader who has successfully directed program staff and has demonstrated the ability to provide high quality services in multiple program and service lines.  The position will oversee programs in the Buffalo, Minnesota Area.   Our services include children and adults with disabilities, acquired brain injury, mental health and medical complexities and our service lines include Waiver, Respite and Intermediate Care Facilities (ICM-MR). 
The Area Director supervises, provides direction and leadership to a group of professionals (5-7 Program Directors) and approximately 100-150 program staff, including the house supervisors and Direct Support Professionals.   Above all, the Area Director will ensure the highest quality of services delivered.  


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead Program Directors to develop and maintain quality services and engaging activities that meet the needs of those individuals we serve.
  • Ensure day-to-day program operations are meaningful and in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Lead, develop and inspire team providing on-going performance coaching
  • Financial responsibility in the following areas: operational budget, analyze financial metrics, identify trends and implement corrective solutions
  • Ensure high level of quality services in all programs
  • Ability to identify areas of potential risk, quickly implement solutions and engage support teams as necessary
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with families, Regional Centers, and regulatory agencies
  • Ensure timely reporting to both internal and external agencies (Mandated Reporting) 
  • Perform Program Director functions as needed


  • Bachelors degreerequired in related field 
  • QMRP recognition as determined by federal and state regulations 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of behavior management principles, program development, and monitoring techniques, 
  • Three to six years of experience significant management experience in the human services industry
  • Exceptional communication skills with an ability to establish rapport quickly withothers
  • An empathetic approach coupled with an ability to establish boundaries
  • Eligible as determined by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the Department of Human Services, and the Company's Corporate Compliance Plan 
  • VALID driver's license/driving record that meets company's insurability
