The YMCA of Metro Atlanta serves more than 300,000 individuals with 23 full facilities and ten additional camping and childcare locations. The Y provides financial assistance to support more than 25,000 youth, teens, and families. The Y offers programs that serve kids, adults, and families at all stages of life. As the largest provider of early learning and after-school programs in Georgia, the Y is closing the achievement gap for Atlanta youth. During the teen years, the Y focuses on leadership development to prepare teens to connect to and serve their communities. A leader in healthy living, the Y offers youth sports and wellness programs designed to help kids and adults live healthier and be more active. A strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health, and our neighbors. We believe that to bring about meaningful change in individuals and communities, we must be focused and accountable. The Aquatics Director intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined while also managing high-quality, member-focused Aquatics programs.
Hire, Schedule, Train and Develop Lifeguard Staff. Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local, and YMCA health and safety regulations and conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance. Conducts lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR trainings and monthly in-services with lifeguards. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility. Manages online pool schedule/reservation system. Completes payroll. Manages budget.
Trains and supports lifeguards on new Workplace Safety Guidelines. Supports changed member traffic flow into the pool. Prepares lifeguards with daily reservation rosters. Serves as a building Director on Duty. DOD will ensure members and branch staff are following safety protocol, pre-check guidelines, etc.
Mission and Community Oriented: Models and teaches YMCA Mission and Values; champions inclusion, ensures exceptional member service to differentiate the YMCA from other providers; provides volunteer opportunities and develops programs to train, develop, engage, and recognize community volunteers.
People Oriented: Empathetically listens and communicates for understanding; builds relationships and fosters small communities; effectively tailors communications to appropriate audiences, provides feedback, coaching, guidance, and support.
Results Oriented: Holds staff accountable for high-quality results using a formal process to measure success; provides staff with frameworks to make decisions; develops and manages best practices for exceptional member experience; cultivate relationships to support philanthropy; effectively creates and manages budgets.
Personal Development: Utilizes non-threatening methods to address sensitive issues and less than expected performance; shares insights; facilitates change and models adaptability to change.
EFFECT ON END RESULT:
In partnership with the Association’s resource office, the Y will be seen as an advocate for community development and progress. The Y Executive Director will be known as an ambassador for strong kids, strong families, and communities. The goals of the organization are centered on the YMCA Association standards. The Branch will maintain high-quality management in its program delivery and membership involvement assuring sound fiscal management and needs are met to further grow the organization. The Board, staff, volunteers, and members will understand the Y as a cause-related organization that is mission-driven and values-centered.
