What We Do

As Applications Engineers at Silicon Labs, we work on highly skilled teams that operate at the crossroads of software within the semiconductor space. Every team member is critical to the success of our IoT product offerings. We work to specify new designs, understand new product features, debug customer issues, and support customer needs.

What You’ll Do   

As an Applications Engineer, some of the work you do will be to:

  • Provide engineering and technical support for product functionalities and features to support internal and customer design teams 
  • Provide technical assistance to customers (e.g., assisting a customer in designing and programming parts)
  • Design and debug demonstration and evaluation boards
  • Design interface examples of how our products connect in various systems
  • Actively work with customers on design activities
  • Participate in design validation
  • Develop professional expertise, apply company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues
  • Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. 
  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action with internal and some external contacts


Who You Are                           

You are an innovator, builder, and tinkerer. You have a curious mind and the drive to succeed. You want to work with a global team of technology enthusiasts and design pioneers. 

You will need a combination of some (not all) of the qualifications listed below:

  • Degree: B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical and Computer Engineering 
  • Ideal years of experience: 2 years
  • Skills: Python, Java, NodeJS, C, C++, C#, MATLAB, SQL, MySQL, Shell, HTML, MPLab, Verilog, MS Office
  • Previous coursework, projects, and/or internship experience featuring: IoT, MCUs, semiconductors, SoCs, Embedded Systems Design, Systems Project Engineering, Operating Systems, Advanced Digital Design, Data Structures, Computer Organization and Assembly Language, Algorithms, Linear Circuits, Microelectronics, Information Security
  • Previous employment experience or knowledge of: wireless technologies (ZigBee, Bluetooth, etc), engineering fundamentals and methodologies, schematic capture and PCB design skills, circuit-level simulation tools, proper and effective use of lab text equipment, software programming tools or soldering and rework tools, analog and digital circuit analysis, EVB or software design, system analysis, debugging systems, strong customer interface and communication ability (oral and written)
  • Extracurricular activities within organizations a plus

The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $76,300 - $175,500 USD. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, geographic location where work will be performed and applicant’s skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus, equity package and a comprehensive benefits package.
