This position will:

  • Participate in development of the Epic Ambulatory and Practice Management System to support practices in the Pediatrics Physicians' Organization at Children's (PPOC).
  • Develop requirements, performing system configuration, application testing, support practice implementation and on-going support specifically within the Epic Ambulatory and Practice Management System. May make application processing and design recommendations.
  • Participate as a project team member on practice specific or PPOC wide projects as assigned.
  • Work with the Epic Analyst Lead to monitor product development and work with vendor to keep staff current on all system optimizations and upgrades.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with Epic software. 
  • Develop and maintain proper documentation of support and customization materials for the activities and tasks assigned.
  • Prepare and keep current documentation for internal processes, system work-flow, and testing scripts.
  • Integrate with a variety of systems, including scheduling, lab, radiology, billing, and inpatient. Application coordinators need to design and build workflows that take advantage of this integration.


To qualify, you must have:

  • The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts typically acquired through a completion of a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a closely related field and 3 plus experience.
  • The analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts and in‑depth, cross‑functional experienced‑based knowledge.
  • Communication skills in order to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions, or well‑developed writing skills.
  • Experience working with process owners and users in gathering requirements, creating specs, system design, and application design.
  • Experience in Healthcare Information Systems, Application Support, IT or Clinical experience using the Epic EMR and have a solid understanding of workflows and configuration in an Ambulatory setting with decision support, order sets, reports and documentation tools.

  • The ability to travel to Epic headquarters in Verona, WI to attend training classes, as needed.
  • A dependable car and/or transportation to practice offices, training locations, and other off-site meetings.
