The Responsibilities:

As Application Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing 2nd tier support of stored value application written and maintained by Transact. You will resolve support requests, monitor application and job performance, configure new clients in the application, assist Product Development with issue identification, and report all issues to management and key stakeholders.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Application monitoring
  • Monitoring application health and performance
  • Managing proactive maintenance schedule
  • Assisting with regular scalability and expansion planning
  • Code management
  • Committing templates and configuration changes to a Git repository
  • Assisting with QA and change control process and documentation
  • Writing and executing RFCs as needed
  • Updating documented procedures as needed
  • Developing improved processes
  • Client services support
  • Acting as escalation path for hosted/SaaS/cloud issues affecting end users

The Requirements:

Required Skills:

  • 1-3 years of experience working from the Linux command prompt
  • Understanding of SFTP and FTP file transfer protocols
  • Bash or Perl scripting experience
  • Experience writing and running SQL queries, preferably MySQL
  • Self-motivated and attention to detail
  • Desire to continuously learn
  • Strong problem-solving skills with focus on risk management and planning
  • Strong communication and technical skills
  • Thrives in a team environment
  • Handles aggressive timelines and focuses under pressure

Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Working knowledge of scripting and system automation (Perl, Bash, Awk, rsync, etc.)
  • Experience with version control systems, preferably Git
  • Experience with databases, preferably MySQL
  • Experience with safely making changes in a production environment
  • Experience with payment systems
