Job Brief

The Application Solution Architect is an expert in the operational intelligence domain and provides leadership and vision for architecture, strategy and roadmaps. The Application Solution Architect works within the approved enterprise architecture to design solutions with a business focus, ensuring the correct alignment of the technology with the business needs, and a technology focus in ensuring the technology used is complying with the architectural strategy and standards. The Application Solution Architect is also knowledgeable in the other domains such as network, server, storage, and cybersecurity and is able to engage architects and subject matter experts across all domains to help ensure the success of the overall operational intelligence vision. The architect will collaborate with ITS teams and business units to plan and design solutions, and will assess the impact of future business needs on existing and future architectures.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Provide leadership and strategic guidance during the solution development process to ensure bridging of the gap between business problems faced by customers and benefits available from IT solutions and services.
  • Seek deep understanding of business function(s) and required capabilities.
  • Identify solutions that align with Enterprise strategy and standards.
  • Design high-quality architectures that align technologies with business needs and are consistent with enterprise technology standards.
  • Collaborate with Domain Architects and ITS Principal Analysts on the development of the ITS Plan and Roadmap
  • Research and stay abreast of ITS industry technology and practice direction and maturity
  • Create and maintain reference architectures.
  • Lead the development and evolution of operational intelligence strategy, standards, frameworks, best practices, technology roadmaps & practices.
  • Identify emerging technology and trends and provide analysis of potential future use at SRP.


Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution plus an additional 18 graduate level college credits in an area of specialty.


Minimum of 10 years cumulative and progressive post-degreeexperience

Additional Information

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Ten years of related Information Technology experience is required.
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Capable of making quality, timely decisions based on analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with clients, peers, technical teams, Development Leadership Team and management
  • Ability to facilitate and moderate collaborative work teams
  • Development of process, technology and information diagrams and business cases
  • Delivers excellent customer service
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to present technical topics to different audiences and present these coherently and logically
  • Strong understanding of development platforms and frameworks
  • Understanding of supporting technologies including public/private cloud, network, storage, server operating systems and hardware, virtualization technologies, disaster recovery, and security
  • Ability to engage with project managers in the deployment of application architectures
  • Understanding of utility industry and regulatory agencies
  • Experience in long-term planning and governance is preferred.
  • Broad technical expertise with the understanding of SRP's technical landscape, as well as SRP's business operations is preferred.
