About the business

Application Services is responsible for the development and support of business applications utilized by various divisions across Sun Life Canada. 

About the role:

This role is responsible for managing the riskreporting and metrics for Application Services with a focus on, risk metrics, application portfolio management and periodic risk and compliance reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and implement risk metrics (models / methodologies) in support of various Application Services processes
  • Provide risk metric thought leadership and assistance across all AS teams as required
  • Provide leadership in the maturity of application portfolio management 
  • Identify and implement solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness related to the management of data required for performing risk assessments and recovery processes
  • Identify and implement periodic management reports pertaining to risk and compliance that provides risk owners the information they require to effectively manage their risks
  • Collaborate with various teams and key contacts, ensuring the periodic reports are published as per agreed upon reporting frequency and contains the correct information

Qualifications:

  • University degree with 10 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in application development and support
  • Experience with risk management practices related to application development and support services
  • Experience with application asset managementinventory
  • Knowledge of technical infrastructure, for example networks, servers, mainframe
  • Experience with the creation of varying types of management riskreporting
  • Familiarity of IT General Computing Controls (e.g., SOX/COBIT, SSAE, NIST, PCI)
  • Proficient with analysis and interpretation of data (e.g., Excel pivot tables, MS Access, etc.)
  • Experienced at supporting change and helping others through the process

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong communication, facilitation, problem solving, and problem resolution skills
  • Familiarity of Business Disruption Risks, Information Security Risks, Information Technology Risks and Information Management Risks
  • Flexible and adaptable when dealing with changing priorities

Notes/Unique Requirements:

  • Some travel between our Toronto and Waterloo offices may be required
