NUBURU Inc. is looking for a highly motivated applications engineer to join our applications team and work with the next generation of industrial laser systems. The engineer will be part of a dynamic team and work with cutting-edge laser systems to develop exciting applications. From time to time he/she may be responsible for field service visits to customers at the direction of the Application Lab Manager. The successful candidate for this position will possess the following skills:
- Experience with material processing utilizing a laser source.
- Excel in customer interaction and customer satisfaction (both internal and external).
- Prior on-site field service experience and ability to travel on as needed bases.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Teamwork and detail oriented.
- Proven “people” skills.
- Ability to think “outside the box”.
- A sense of urgency, and a desire to close assigned tasks on time.
- A service-oriented attitude towards customers.
Key responsibilities related to this position are as follows:
- Articulate customer requests and determine best approach to solve the application request. Align the proposed plan with customer and the relevant sales engineer.
- Execute process with appropriate equipment in accordance to the agreed plan with customer and sales.
- Design and create fixtures and setups, on as needed basis, to meet the need of customer request for processing samples.
- Perform metallurgy studies as needed, including cross sectioning, sanding/polishing, etching, and imaging and new techniques developed by NUBURU.
- Document logically and in detail application specific results following the plan and in accordance to the specific customers request. It should include but is not limited to data (in excel database), pictures (such as bead and cross sections ….) and all relevant comments and suggestions. Store samples in a well-organized fashion within a secure cabinet for future reference as needed.
- Generate in good English, following the plan and in accordance to the specific customers request a test report summarizing the application specific results including all relevant comments and suggestion in support of the application. Have the report reviewed by the Application Manager and the relevant Sale engineer prior to sending it to the customer.
- From time to time we may ask you to develop applications notes for training the sales force and for customers.
- Generate samples for sales support purposes from time to time.
- As needed, assist sales and marketing staff in assessing customer requests and customer results including but not limited to conference calls and visits.
- Provide technical and applications support for commercial trade shows.
- As needed, work closely with the Applications Manager to plan and document field service visits.
- Provide technical and applications support for field service calls, including up to 30% international travel.
- Diagnose, trouble-shoot mechanical electrical systems.
- Excel in customer interaction and customer satisfaction (both internal and external).
Preferred credentials and experience
- A minimum of 2 years product application experience and/or product support
- A minimum of 2 years laser material processing experience
- A minimum of 1 year conducting on-site field service calls
