This role reports to the Manager of the Self-Service Analytics (SSA) team within Finance and Accounting Transformation. Self-Service Analytics exists to support functional owners in driving process excellence and automating data-driven solutions across the finance organization in areas such as financial reporting, transactional activities, interim transformations, and system implementations. This position enables users across functional areas to learn how low-code, self-service data and automation tools, including (but not limited to) Alteryx, Qlik, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI, can be used to build solutions which streamline manual, repetitive, and error-prone processes. The primary focus of this role is to assist the business users in building their own solutions, effectively enabling innovation and transformation of processes in partnership with process owners. In addition, the role involves building apps, workflows, and reports to support the work of the SSA core team and its mission.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with standardizing processes, developing and managing the automation of finance, accounting, procurement, tax, fiber, and/or logistics business processes as well as working in cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will also have a good understanding of leading project management methodologies, and a demonstrated history of supporting other business users in the self-service user community to better adopt and utilize the low-code data tools.

How you will impact WestRock:
  • Drive enablement, development, and assistance in the building of data and automation solutions using various data analytic and visualization tools including (but not limited to) Alteryx, Power Automate, Power BI, and Qlik apps/dashboards.
  • Support individual and team initiatives by applying your skills in process excellence, project management, facilitation, and problem solving, accelerating transformation through automation to drive the business toward desired outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal customers across different departments.

  • Perform other duties as requested by management.


What you need to succeed:
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing data/automation solutions.
  • Working knowledge of finance/accounting processes a plus, including transactional, month-end close, financial period closing and reporting, budgeting, etc.
  • Proven experience in process definition, gap analysis, requirements gathering, documentation, process design and implementation.
  • Proven ability to drive individual projects from initiation through development to implementation and post-implementation maintenance, support, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Working knowledge of project management methodologies and issue resolution techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with key stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, presentation, project management, and planning skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment, adjusting to priorities as needed.


Essential qualifications and education:
  • Bachelor's Degree (Computer Science, Data Science, Management Information Systems, Accounting, Engineering, Finance) preferred
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall system implementation methodologies is a plus
  • Certification in project management is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams
  • System implementation experience is a plus
  • Experience in data sourcing/exploration and validation
  • Experience working with data extract/transform/load (ETL) tools such as Alteryx, Power Query, Qlik
  • Working knowledge in the basic concepts of relational databases and data modeling
  • Experience writing queries in Structured Query Language (SQL) or similar is a plus
  • Proficient knowledge of and/or experience building in data analytics, automation, and visualization platforms such as Alteryx, Microsoft Power Platform, Qlik, ServiceNow, and BlackLine
  • Skilled user of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability and interest to learn new tools, applications, and systems
