An Analytics DevOps Engineer at Verimatrix participates in the creation of a large product suite that enables video analytics for video content delivered via satellite, cable, or the Internet.  The engineer collaborates with his/her teammates to deliver high-performing, scalable, high-quality products.  The engineer should enjoy working through the software development lifecycle.  A successful engineer will be proactive, interactive, creative, and flexible.  The engineer will need to learn and understand the entire Verimatrix product suite as well as gain deep technical knowledge of solutions in the Analytics group he/she joins.  We are a global company and appreciate people with global awareness and knowledge (languages other than English are a bonus). 

Some tasks the engineer will perform: 

  • Work with analytics development teams to test, deploy and maintain scalable, robust data platforms and services in our analytics stack in AWS
  • Manage build and deploy environments  
  • Maintain, manage and automate access to the data platform, tools and applications
  • Define and develop verification processes for production services through automated scripts
  • Build automated tools, scripts, processes and applications to determine the health of a large scale multi-tenant platform, services availability and environment
  • Develop monitoring, testing, and automated maintenance of development services
  • Collaborate with Cloud Infrastructure and other AWS administrators on maintaining seamless processes and a healthy environment
  • Script production deployment products
  • Work with developers on optimizing queries and processes and monitor products’ performance
  • Document SOP’s, processes, architectures, data workflows 
  • Others as assigned

This position reports to a development manager within our Analytics Engineering team.

Required Qualifications:

  • 1 or more years of related work experience
  • 1 or more years of hands-on operational, DevOps or production services experience
  • Cloud infrastructure management/experience (AWS)
  • Continuous integration and source repository management (GIT, Jenkins)
  • Solid understanding of Linux and networking concepts
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructures (esp AWS)
  • Scripting, e.g. bash, Ansible, Python, CloudFormation
  • Attention to detail, responsiveness, commitment to efficiency and automation!
  • Great communication skills
  • Ability to work cross-teams and break down silos and black boxes
  • Excellent communication skills including documentation
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience

Each of the Following would be a Plus:

  • Some programming skills, e.g. Python
  • Experience with Ansible and/or CloudFormation (or Puppet/Chef)
  • Understanding of analytics and data services and technologies 
  • RDMBS development experience in SQL
  • NoSQL (e.g., search, columnar, graph)
  • Computer Science, Information Management/Systems or similar degree
