Job Description

ABOUT THE JOB (JOB BRIEF) The Analytics Capabilities Manager reports directly to KeyBank’s Enterprise Business Data Director and is responsible for improving our analytical data platforms to enable faster and better business decisions informed by insight. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop analytic requirements through partnerships with Client Insights and Decision Sciences and Modeling
  • Translate requirements for Key Technology and Operations; manage projects supporting the development of new analytics platforms and maintenance of existing platforms
  • Manage and communicate changes in our data environment to users across KeyBank
  • Manage the data definitions and dictionary for all KeyBank analytic platforms
  • Leading and directly managing a team of professionals to drive business outcomes

The ideal candidate will be innovative, dedicated and knowledgeable about internal processes systems and technologies and understand how data is used throughout the organization. They will have well-developed negotiation, presentation and communication skills. They master the art of influence, perseverance and productivity. They will also work to effectively bring about change in Key’s culture that will positively impact the success of the entire organization. Ultimately, the individual will need a proven track record for delivering results through influence and effective collaboration.

Outcomes should include:
• Increased utilization of analytic platforms for self service and standard reporting
• Reduced cycle times for analysts to identify, access, and manipulate data for high value analytics
• Increased output in diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics
• Improved data quality within our source systems
• Increased usage of our data supply chain for analytic and reporting purposes


  • Oversight and supervision of a complex, matrixed team across multiple functional areas. Cultivate a data and information leadership team of the highest caliber, who are equipped and enabled to successfully partner with the business
  • Use both business and technology acumen to determine long term strategy for Anaytical Data in conjunction with other data and information domain leaders
  • Build, socialize and ratify strategy for Analytics Capabilities using knowledge, expertise, and thought leadership in collaboration with other Data and Information leaders
  • Advocate for solutions that advance the enterprises’ data and information standards
  • Provides key information to key stakeholders and ensures data and information validity. Define the required communication to keep relevant stakeholders aware of changes
  • Coordinate the articulation of the data strategy by keeping the “guide” posts current, driving/influencing priority lists and evolving data strategy as required by emerging needs and environmental variables
  • Track efficiencies, savings and value resulting from improving the data supply chain over time
  • Develop / package policies and standards pertaining to the data supply chain including data and report certification
  • Leverage Core Data Quality Processes by LOB / Functions, including root cause analysis
  • Establish, manage, oversee and improve operations by developing metrics, management reporting and scorecard reviews to grow operational performance

• Bachelor’s Degree; 12+ years of experience; 5+ years’ program management experience;
Significant (3-5 years) data management experience (Master degree preferred)
• Ability to collaborate with and influence the most senior leaders in the organization
• Possess level of professional savvy to influence others and drive change; executive presence
• Proven ability to manage and influence in a matrixed environment
• Experience and success in leading and driving change
• Demonstrated leadership; viewed as valuable resource within and outside Enterprise Data Management
• Demonstrates and executive presence as well as polished/advanced communication skills – written, oral, presentation; ability to coach others to enhance communication skills
• Proven ability to develop and implement strategies to improve/maintain cost effective delivery
• Ability to lead, actively manage and professionally develop a multi-level team of professionals
• Ability to proactively support stakeholders based on in-depth understanding of their business and industry best-practices
• Possess expert technical knowledge; advanced business acumen
• Knowledge of banking industry
