  • Perform primary alliance management functions on selected licensing and/or sponsored research relationships by controlling information flow, facilitating forward progress of the project and managing all stakeholders to accomplish the project goals in the allotted time.
  • Establish, manage and create after-action plans and guide the implementation of routine scientific, regulatory and business-related individual and team meetings.
  • Liaise between our team and CROs, as well as partners, directing the workflow.
  • Be the point of contact to increase partner knowledge of Buck technology and results to help build working relationships.
  • Participate as needed in the invention disclosure process including creating and maintaining hard copy files and database records.
  • Draft, review, and revise non-confidential technology summaries of disclosed inventions for use in marketing technologies to industry.
  • Identify industry contacts for Institute technologies. Search industry publications and online databases for licensing opportunities and contacts.
  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, revising, and negotiating agreements with academic and industry partners.
  • Monitor, coordinate and manage the identification of intellectual property generated by the collaborating laboratories and the competitive space.
  • Provide regular Technology Transfer updates and status reports to VP of Technology Transfer used to update Committees and Board of Trustees.
  • Periodically review and update department materials, including marketing materials and descriptions of the Office of Technology Transfer and its activities.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.


  • PhD in biology, chemistry, biochemistry or related biotechnology field
  • 2+ years' experience or training in technology transfer or intellectual property in the field of biotechnology preferred
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of applications (including MS WORD, Excel and PowerPoint), database and graphics programs and use of the Internet. Must possess outstanding drafting, grammar, spelling, and editing abilities. Able to learn new software programs efficiently
  • Extremely well organized, with the ability to attend to detail and quality, as well as to conduct, track and manage multiple tasks and projects of varying complexity.
  • Skilled at managing scientific franchises with disparate motivations, overseeing complex groups and able to diffuse and remedy discord and disagreements
  • Professional office experience including effective and professional interpersonal communication skills
  • Exercises judgment and tact in solving problems and responding to multiple demands
  • Demonstrates a high level of initiative and commitment to acquiring the knowledge, skills, understanding and expertise related to the work of the Technology Transfer department and functions of Licensing is essential
  • Able to maintain a strict degree of confidentiality is critical
  • Interacts effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and viewpoints as well as different age groups.
